Ways To Help

Volunteer Tasks

At the Center

Saturday Helper

  • Put pets in cages
  • Provide food and water
  • Walk dogs
  • Keep kennels clean
  • Greet adopters and tell them about the animals
  • Help clean-up at the end of the day

Must like working with animals, being outside, not mind pet clean-up

Hours at the center are 10-3.  Volunteers can sign up for morning, afternoon or both.

Fundraisers

Chairperson

Coordinates the event.  Most major events have the same major components.

  • Find and reserve the location
  • Write articles for the papers
  • Approve posters
  • Schedule volunteers
  • Schedule tasks to be completed
  • Make sure that volunteers have the necessary tools to carry out their function (ie:  for the rummage sale they need scissors, price tags, pens, pencils, tape, paper etc)
  • Work the event
  • Makes sure the site of the event is returned to its original condition
  • Writes follow-up articles for the web and papers or sends information to someone who will

There are many volunteers who have worked at our large fundraisers for several years, they know the basics.  The chairperson is needed to make sure that everything gets done.  You should be organized, able to direct people and work with the public.
